Abstract:

Crime and many other behaviors have inherent social and relational properties that are often overlooked (or not appropriately accounted for) in the descriptive or regression-based techniques that are commonly used in the empirical literature. This presentation focuses on crime as seen through a social network lens, highlighting the untapped potential to analyze the relational aspects of crime through the combination of novel social network techniques and the rich, relational information available in Norwegian administrative registers.
